Yes, I was laid off today. Lots of stuff going on, but mostly things about which I should or would rather not say. I'm planning on renaming the journal, to cut out 'nc,' but I'm still trying to decide on the new name ('anson' is already taken).
Yeah, I'm going to keep this going and keep talking about what kinds of tech I'm dealing with, what (little) I have to say about the broader game industry, and so on. Just gotta rename it, which fortunately LJ lets you do. :)
I still haven't decided where I'd like to move (I'm just assuming that finding work in Austin is a wash), so give us a heads up what cities you're interested in...
...not for stalking purposes, but just to validate my own choices, where possible.
I'm still mostly shooting for Austin. I dunno about design work - between Midway, and the handful of designers leaving NCsoft, it may be full up - but it seems like anywhere I go there aren't enough programmers.
BTW, since we both have some free time, hit me up with a private message and I can arrange to deliver that package... if Crickette hasn't already been talking to you.
I, too, would like to stay in touch.
Best regards, Kurt (Ripper)
And if you or anyone you know who was laid off at NCSoft are open to relocating to Boston, I can provide some connections to area studios.
I know, because it sucks to be me, too.
