ncanson is now ansonthegnome
Well before Dungeon Runners, I was using "Anson" for various game-related things - but the genesis of the name is, oddly enough, in gnomes. In honor of the Bling variety of gnomes, but also to harken back to those earlier times when most of the games I played were of the pen-and-paper variety, I've got a new name. Go me. :-)

movin' on
Yes, I was laid off today. Lots of stuff going on, but mostly things about which I should or would rather not say. I'm planning on renaming the journal, to cut out 'nc,' but I'm still trying to decide on the new name ('anson' is already taken).

Spam
In my profile, I say "[b]ecause LiveJournal is used by spammers (and I don't have any fancy WordPress plug-ins to screen spam), anonymous comments are screened... but still allowed. Please feel free to comment!" Turns out I was on the money, and I get quite a bit of spam here, almost all of which has been anonymous comments.
I've had a few anonymous comments that made me glad that anonymous comments aren't outright banned, but the vast majority have also made me happy I screen them. So let me reiterate: anonymous comments that are more than just search engine keywords and links to spam are completely welcome, and I'll try to unscreen them and make them visible as quickly as I can. If you have an LJ account or OpenID, you'll get through quicker, but I try to be responsive about anonymous comments too.

Appearances!
As has been mentioned more broadly to our community already, I'll be at PAX helping to man the booth at the end of August. I don't know exactly what my schedule is, or what kind of free time I'll have, but if you want to see me come by the booth... I'm already trying to figure out if I can escape long enough to visit Darius' talk and heckle.
We'll also have some time on the PAX LAN to showcase Dungeon Runners and Exteel, I don't know many details on that yet though.
EDIT: and of course by the time I finished typing the above, I forgot to mention the other bit - I'll be attending Austin GDC in September, as well. Hopefully I'll see the other game developers who follow this there!

character blogging from OUTER SPACE
In keeping with some of the other features I've worked on, the next chunk (#4) is going to feature automated character blogs. So, when you complete quests, gain levels, die, and so on, these events will show up on the web. We will be providing them as RSS feeds in addition to local pages. We'll also be aggregating the events of all the characters in a given Posse into a single page and feed, and players will have the option of turning on the same thing for their friends list.
Once we have an achievements system, achieving one will also generate blog entries; ditto for more posse-oriented events that happen. We may also add screenshots at a later date, provide better support for twitter, or any of a million things... getting the data itself out to the web is our first priority, and the core of any future cool features along these lines.
